Content Management System (CMS)

This system will be a fully integrated content management system to NyooTV.com and will also function as a Video Delivery Network platform for other publishers to use. The CMS (Content Management System) platform will enable publishers to focus on the business while AKG provides the “technology”, enabling a quicker go-to market.

In media publishing architecture there are two core modules:

1.  Content Management – Behind the scenes content preparation
2.  Content Delivery – Streaming media to the end user

Pre-process
Content will be sourced in various hardware formats like tapes, discs and in various software formats like AVI, MPEG1/2.  Linear content will be digitized first for non linear editing purposes. Once digitized, the content will then be pre processed to remove unwanted frames (like Ads in TV shows).

Upload
Content will be uploaded via the CM Client. CM Client will need the following to upload content for publishing purpose:

1. Video clip – Any format; most likely AVI, MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, FLV, 3GP


2. Thumbnail image – To identify the movie in the web page


3. Meta data – Title of the video clip, Main category, sub category / genre, special category (Recent, Featured, etc...), Release date, Production, Cast (Actors),  Lyrics, Music, Language and Synopsis


4. Video size – Vertical and Horizontal resolution (Need to upscale / downscale accordingly)


5. Video CODEC – Video output format(s)


6. Audio CODEC – Audio output format(s)


7. Overlay (Watermark) – text / image, position, size, etc...


8. Bit rate – Desired output video bit rate(s)


9. Segment – Length (in seconds) of each segment


10. Naming convention – For different bit rates and segments

CM Client will allow for batch video file uploads in which case the Meta data and other text data should be provide in a CSV file. Video file name will be the key to fetch the record in the CSV file.

Transcode
Once the video upload is complete, the video clips will be transcoded to the desired output format(s).

Transrate
Transcoding process will be repeated with different bitrates as desired and multiple output files of different bit rates will be generated for every input file.

Segmentize
Every video file (of different bit rates) will then be segmented for smooth streaming and seeking purposes. Length of every video segment will be as desired by the user.

Encrypt
Every segment will then be encrypted to avoid piracy. Multiple encryption formats would be supported including DRM. We currently use Windows DRM. Support for other DRM would be available in the future.

Transfer
All of the segmented video clips will then be transferred to the content delivery server and the database will be updated with necessary information. Once the transfer is complete, the newly uploaded video(s) will be available for the viewers.
